This is a 2nd year Graphic Design project, created in response to a Speculative Design brief.

Imagining a world in the future with increased radiation levels, our object aims to aid day-to-day living through the simple visualisation of these levels through an analogue medium. The central column rotates at 60 revolutions a minute. The surrounding pins raise in succession depending on the radiation received by the Geiger tube on the outside of the object. Contact between the arms of the central column and the outer pins create a varying tempo, indicating the degree of severity of radiation levels. The device is powered using Arduino and reacts in real time to Beta and Gamma radiation. Five motors power the device, and 3D printed parts allow the four outer motors to move in a linear direction, extending the pins upwards.
